चन्द्र · chandra · the Moon
macOS menu bar
A jyotisha calendar that lives in the menu bar. The Moon's phase at a glance, a panchanga for any day, and a Lagna Kundali that redraws itself as the lagna moves — all sixteen divisional charts. Computed on your Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere.
macOS 11 Big Sur or later.
Chandra is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS cannot check who made it and blocks it by default. The app is unchanged by this — it is a statement about a certificate, not about the software.
On macOS 15 Sequoia and later
On macOS 11 to 14
macOS may also ask for your location. Chandra uses it to compute rise and set times for where you are; it is never sent anywhere. You can decline and type a city instead.
Nine calendars, a panchanga, and a chart — each with its own menu bar item, so what you want is one click away and what you don't is not there at all.
The current phase is drawn in the menu bar itself, not hidden behind a click. The calendar beneath it gives every day of the month its phase.
A month of transits for any graha — rashi and nakshatra ingresses, stations, combustion — each switchable into the menu bar on its own.
Tithi, vara, nakshatra with pada, yoga, karana and the muhurtas, for the day you pick. Amanta or purnimanta, or a plain solar month.
The shodasavarga, from D1 to D60, Parashari throughout. Any of them can sit in the menu bar beside the others.
Each graha stands at its own degree along a route through its house, and the whole ring advances as the lagna crosses its sign. A reading of now that looks like one.
Swiss Ephemeris runs on your Mac. There is no account, no telemetry and no network code in the app at all — your location never leaves the machine.
The actual panel, rendered by the app's own components at twice the size it draws at. Nothing here is a mockup.
The figures come from somewhere, and the app says where. Every position is Swiss Ephemeris; outside its precise range the chart says so on its face.
